The Visionary Metaxa Family

Creta Maris was born from the vision of the Metaxa family in 1975. Nikos and his wife Loula set out to create a resort that would not only showcase authentic Cretan hospitality but also reflect the spirit of a traditional village. The dream, of a civil engineer (Nikos) and a collector of traditional textiles and gifted gardener (Loula), was to design a space where every path, courtyard, and corner would foster a sense of community, just as a Cretan village does. Their commitment has turned Creta Maris into a place where everyone feels welcome and at home.

In any village, the people are its lifeblood and at Creta Maris our employees embody this principle. Over the years, their passion, care, and unwavering dedication have transformed the resort into a true home for our guests. From warm smiles to thoughtful gestures, they make sure everyone feels part of the Creta Maris family. 

Our Local Community

Creta Maris is not just part of the local community, it thrives because of it. As the first resort in Hersonissos, it played a key role in transforming the area into a vibrant tourism hub. Just like a traditional Cretan village, the resort works hand in hand with its neighbors to foster connection and growth. By employing local talent (80% of its total employees), sourcing fresh ingredients from over 62 regional producers, and collaborating with cultural and social organizations, the resort ensures its operations enrich the community while celebrating the unique spirit of Crete.
